Ubuntu Ireland August Geeknic

Ubuntu Ireland August Geeknic

The poll for the August Geeknic is now closed.  St. Stephens Green was the winner. It’s a big park so I recommend this location as the meeting point on Sunday the 14th August at 1pm.

Everyone is welcome, bring along some food, maybe a rug to sit on and come and chat with other people who want to meet you! We’re meeting HERE!!!
I’ll be the one with the Tux baseball cap.  Plus crutches. Two other locations were suggested in comments for a the location.  It

was too late to add them to the poll but I will make sure that they are offered as locations for the next Dublin Geeknic.

Fingers crossed the weather stays dry for us.

See you there,
moylan

PS Me – czajkowski won’t be there :) See you soon folks

Following on from hearing about this at Dallas, the Irish LoCo is having it’s own Hour.  January 6th at 6pm  at the Trinity Capital Hotel bar.  This is the first confirmed date, a poll will be sent out to chose February and March to allow for folks to chose a suitable time that means we get to see more of the members.

The reason also for the change in venue from Longstone, is this place has meeting rooms, and free wifi, and they don’t want to change us! We hope to start having some talks for 2010. New year new events for the Irish LoCo

Congratulations to 2 New Irish Ubuntu Members

I’m feeing rather proud of my LoCo this evening.  We’re a small LoCo but rather tight knit.  I emailed out recently that Rory and Declan were going for their Ubuntu Membership, and I was asked on IRC how someone could show their support.  I simply put it, come along and cheer them on, or leave a comment on their wiki page.

There seems to be a little confusion here, as the impression was that only Ubuntu Members could leave testimonials. Well pish posh to that! If you’ve worked with someone or gotten help from them, found them to go that extra mile to help you, why not leave a comment on their wiki so they can see you appreciated the help and  show others how great this person is.

Remember if you have members going for their membership, be ready with your pompoms and cheer them on! Get behind them and support them!

Tonight Rory McCann and Declan McGrath went through their membership meeting and I’m very pleased to say they are now Ubuntu Members and brought the Irish Ubuntu Members number up to 5 ! Well done lads!
