May Ubuntu Hour – Dublin
Posted in events, Ubuntu, Ubuntu-ie on 06/03/2010 02:59 pm by Laura CzajkowskiOn the last WEDNESDAY of the month in Dublin, some of the Ubuntu Irish team members meet up for a face to face gather. Having a bite to eat, drink and chat is a great way to mix and relax and chat about Ubuntu and see what folks are doing.
It’s very informal, anyone can turn up. We can be found at the Trinity Capital Hotel, in the bar, spot the geeks with the laptops. It has free wifi which is a bonus and food is reasonably priced.
This month we met and I decided to show off the LoCo Directory as I’d been mentioning it on IRC but thought it best to walk folks through it. This was a good idea as some folks hadn’t heard about it and this will be the way all events will be added in future. Also by chance we have some python developers in our team who were interested in the system and want to help! Some photos below and others are here. The idea of the hour is just to get discussion going and introduce one another to other events happening in Ubuntu or their involvement in Ubuntu or Open Source. We get lots of new people just popping in and saying hi, some come back others just wanted to drop by. It’s very informal and nice to take the banter off IRC to real life when we can.
