If you’ve not heard about the LoCo Directory by now, something is wrong! It’s a great site full of some really useful information for you, your team and also for anyone visiting places they can find out all about your team!
All of your team information is stored and displayed here. You (admins) can edit your team page and list the resources your team offers, from an IRC channel, to wiki, website, help etc.
A great feature for the directory is the fact you can create events on here and keep a track of who’s coming and bringing along folks. We’re really encouraging everyone to make full use of the directory, but we also know it’s still in its infancy and has some teething issues.
That’s where YOU COME IN, we need your thoughts and inputs. The developers have done an AWESOME job in getting it up and running and ironing out the kinks but they need some help. With that in mind Daniel Holbach has organised a meeting and wants YOU THERE!
The meeting will take place in #ubuntu-meeting(irc.freenode.net) on July 8th, 14:00 UTC.
Topics we’d like to talk about:
If you know anything about Django, Python, Web development or are keen to learn about it and be part of a fantastic project that powers a great and fantastic part of our community, be there and talk to us.
We need your help now to help grow the directory and sort out any issues there are present. Help now rather than moan about things not working afterwards!

I’d noticed a while back there was a session on the fridge for LoCo teams that was vacant and thought how best I could use it to get more discussions going with teams.
We’re trying out the LoCo Health Check sessions on the 1st Tuesday of each month in #ubuntu-locoteams. In this session if you have any queries from your team or ideas you want to get some feedback on this would be a great place to bring them up and chat to others in the community.
The idea is we the council will add some topics we’d like to share with the community or get feedback on. There is also an area for you to add a topic you want to hear about or bring up and get feedback.
Meetings take place on #ubuntu-locoteams the agenda is open for anyone to add items to, but if you do add items, PLEASE turn up. This is open to EVERYONE in EVERY TEAM. Come along and meet more people in the Ubuntu Community.

Aloha! I’ve been doing more thinking lately ( this lack of working thing is doing my noggin in and leaves me a lot of time to ponder) Some folks hang out in #ubuntu-locoteams on IRC mostly the guys working on the development of the LoCo Directory, there are others there who just idle or pop in and out.
It would be great to have more people dropping in and chatting and meeting more people from all other teams, chat, bounce ideas off one another and get to know others in the community. This channel is open to everyone, a lot of the LoCo Council hang out in here also so if you’re looking for us it’s a good place to start if you want to talk to us on IRC.
It would be great if more people utilised this channel more and encouraged their team members to join here.
While I’m at it, the # tag for locoteams is really taking off and great to see teams using it. Don’t forget if you’ve an idea or planning an event tweet/dent it and add #locoteams to it and let more people know the work you are planning on doing.

It’s easy to get complacent in summer when there’s not much on and the sun is out. Jeffrey/Tdr112 has gone about sorting this out. We’re going to do something in July and that something is what we want you to decide. He has created a poll and we’d like you to vote on the activity.
The idea of this event is to do something different. We’ve a geeknic to chose from work on bugs, hillwalking and lots more. We might depending on the outcome be able to combine two things. So please vote and lets meet up this July!
Voting is here. Come along and meet some more of the local Ubuntu folks here in Ireland. Our events are child friendly so don’t be shy in bringing your kids along!

So I’ve been pondering and mulling trying to figure out how best to interact with LoCo Teams. I’m on IRC and run a screen session so even when not there folks leave me a message. It’s handy but I know not everyone uses IRC. Then we have a mailing list LoCo contacts list which isn’t being used as much as it can be, we’re working on that. Then there are the forums, I’ve never been a forums user. Finally we have social media Twitter and Identi.ca. So there are lots of ways to share your information with one another.
I thought it might be an idea for teams, members, anyone who wants to really to use the tag #locoteams If you create a search on what ever client you use, then you’ll be able to see what teams are planning, discussing, or announcing. This would be a great way to kick start discussions and also share information with one another.
The Ubuntu community is a large international group of very enthusiastic and smart people who come up with new and exciting ways of sharing and promoting Ubuntu. Why not share that information with more people, use the #locoteams tag when you tweet and tell people about the work you are doing or just to get ideas flowing, maybe you’re stuck and want to bounce ideas off one another.
I am on twitter and identi.ca @czajkowski and do post a lot on Ubuntu, but also on rugby
you have been warned! but I will as will other LoCo Council members be using the #locoteams tag where we can
