Had a fantastic time over in Wolverhampton. It was in fact meant to be last one, but the lads have given in and are going to have a LugRadio Live show again next year! So it shall have to be repeated.

It was an extremely relaxed event and everyone just hung out and randomly introduced themselves and it was also really cool to put the face to the names. When I get a chance I’ll write up a propper post.

My next project to keep me busy and out of trouble…. is the Software Freedom Day 2008 in Dublin which is being organised by the Ubuntu Ireland Team. Why you ask! Well it’s a good idea, and something I am interested in and can help with. So Maciej asked me at the last PotD (noticing a trend I agree to things at pubs!) to help with the event.
Today I’m up at the Ubuntu drop in, which has been set up for anyone to come along and ask questions or show off anything they’ve done using Ubuntu. We’ve been nicely given the office by Camara. So we’re looking into a warehouse at present and have lots of available space for the Software Freedom Day.
We’re hoping to have a few running distros of Ubuntu running and a few talks lined up for the day. It’s on Saturday 20th September, so you’ve enough notice to put it into the diary. We’re looking for suggestions for things to do for the day, and also some sponsorship. If you’re interested contact us here
If you are around any Saturday come along to the drop in we’re here from 11-4.

Last week saw up have the July 4th Celebrations of twitter meet up! Small turn out, but none the less very enjoyable to put the face to the names. We met at the Bull and Castle, different location from the previous meet up, but we were staill able to find people as Elly had her cake baked and we did use twitter to locate people.

So a few questions that came up from @debbiemet how do you know who people are when you’ve never met them before? Are folks being nervous at first face to face meeting? I guess I’d never thought about it. I’m so used to randomly turning up to events and just jumping head in. But I guess it may put some folks turning up if they are a bit shy or don’t know what to expect. It means they miss out on events.
Saying that everyone had an enjoyable night and sampled some very nice beers
Hopefully someone else will organsie the next one
