Farewell Shannon – London Heathrow Aer Lingus Flights

Really didn’t think it would come to this! I think it’s a sad state of affairs that it was even allowed to happen. Far too many nods and shaking behind closed doors, with politicians saying they would help. You can be sure if this had happened pre election we would not be seeing the same result.
Others have blogged here and I also see other coverage here about it.

**** 7/2/08 Update the new route from Belfast does not allow Aer Lingus to use any Irish even though it is still the national airline. The Government who own a 23% share knew nothing about this……………..

New Job :) 1st week down

Well almost done, and survived a week in a new job and in Dublin so doing well.  Been kept really busy and so far so good I’m really enjoying it. So much to take in and learn.  Everyone has been really helpful and even took me to lunch on my first day!

ILUG POTD – January

So last night there was a really good turn out for the January POTD meeting in the Longstone in Dublin. 22 give or take people coming and going. Not all nerdy talk, the American election was definitely as was guessing the unix commands that can be seen on car reg’s!Yes much beer later it didn’t seem to matter! one topic as was the car I was well chuffed as I can now go to these events as I’m up here as the majority seem to only be in Dublin.

On that note, people asked last night how you organise a POTD.  Fire off a mail, pick a date and a location and let folks know it’s going on. Doesn’t have to be in Dublin! :)
